CNG innovations to change the fuel game

By | 2016-07-07

As expressed in our previous article, the NGV sector is growing rapidly worldwide. Indeed, there is no doubt that a lot of research & development is constantly being conducted and that significant innovations will come to life, or have already done so. Therefore, the following are two CNG innovations to change the fuel game that will contribute to the optimal implementation of CNG as a fuel for transportation. These significant innovations are essential to push further the deployment of the CNG sector and will inevitably help increase the attractiveness of this alternative cleaner energy. By association, the global biogas industry is more than well positioned in order to make its place as a CNG raw material supplier thanks to renewable natural gas (RNG), also known as upgraded biogas or biomethane.

CleanCNG Compressor by Clean Energy is taking the lead

The new CleanCNG Compressor was recently launched by Clean Energy and is set to redefine the standards of the CNG industry. Strong of its 35-year experience in the compressor sector, Clean Energy took the challenge to totally re-engineer its compressor technology. The CleanCNG Compressor is thus from now on the most innovative heavy-duty non-lubricated compressor available in the CNG market.

Designed in British Columbia, Canada, the CleanCNG Compressor offers unparalleled standardization and reliability, making it possible for a faster initial delivery and implementation at a more competitive cost while reducing service frequency. Also, it has been designed taking into account that expansion is logic and inevitable in a competitive industrial environment. Thus, the CleanCNG compressor can be easily upgraded with standard parts in order to bear with the growing needs of the industry. In addition, it is important to note that Clean Energy has engineered the CleanCNG compressor to produce minimal vibrations and operating noise. As such, the CleanCNG compressor is perfectly suitable for installation in residential areas.

Type III fuel cylinder by CNG Cylinders International approved in British Columbia and Ontario

CNG Cylinders International, a company from California, has managed to expand its American market reach to the North by getting its Type III CNG fuel cylinder approved in Canada. The Type III seamlessly forged aluminium cylinder is wrapped in aerospace-grade carbon fiber and is manufactured in 23 & 25-inch diameters.

CNG Cylinders International points out the Type III fuel cylinder is designed to dissipate heat optimally, thus allowing it to sustain “significantly more gas under fast-fill conditions”. This innovative characteristic makes the Type III a particularly appealing and potentially really competitive fuel cylinder in the CNG market considering it can hold more Diesel Gallon Equivalent (DGE). For instance, as much as 49.2 DGEs of CNG can be injected and held in its 93.5-inch tank.
