A group of 17 Democrats and Republicans governors have signed an accord in which they commit to a sustainable future and greener economy by changing the energy future of the US. This agreement will stimulate the movement towards reliable renewable energy, and aims to reduce national emissions by setting new goals in terms of the type of energy used, as well as energy efficiency.

Part of the proposed solution is, for example, to provide incentives to the companies building and selling vehicles running on electricity or alternative fuels like natural gas and hydrogen. The agreement includes offering help and support to these companies in the development and implementation of the necessary infrastructures.

Californian governor Jerry Brown mentioned this accord follows the lead of his actual administration’s ambitions to decrease by half California’s dependence on fossil fuels for vehicles over the next 15 years. The governor of Nevada reminded the importance to generate new jobs in the clean energy sector, which will stimulate its growth and facilitate the expected achievements of the coalition.

This agreement has a great impact on the biogas industry potential. Indeed, biogas can be easily integrated into a natural gas structure considering its similarity and it is even greener because it is totally renewable.
