The Southern African Biogas Industry Association (SABIA) is a No Profit Organization (NPO) established in 2013 to represent all stakeholders in the biogas industry in Southern Africa. The focus of the association is to identify and address the barriers and challenges faced by the industry, in order for it to develop to its full potential.
SABIA intends to promote the needs of industry stakeholders, paving the way to a fruitful and prosperous Biogas Industry in Southern Africa, benefiting the geographic region economically as well as contributing to sustainability.
In 2013, several core groups formed the Southern African Biogas Industry as a result of recognizing the potential market for biogas and the need for representation of the industry in South Africa. Prior to this, there was no single entity representing and lobbying for the interests of the biogas industry.
